As an EASA approved organisation Aviation Postholder, your primary responsibility is to ensure full compliance of your business area with all regulatory requirements externally as well as all organizational requirements internally. Other challenges faced by both the EASA approved organisation Aviation Postholders and Senior Aviation Business Leaders involve effectively managing your team and developing effective strategies to optimize performance whilst maintaining standards.

In order to effectively manage aviation standards it is essential to both document and communicate clearly all expected objectives, challenges, and team goals. The level of communication must ensure that this is confirmed and understood.

EASA Approved Organisation Postholder Quality Control Obligations

The starting point is to put in place the most effective Quality Control processes because it is necessary not only to ensure compliance but also to promote efficiency wherever possible in the work place. This in turn brings the growing need to measure the effectiveness of the processes and people you are managing. Increasingly, the focus will be orientated towards integrated management standards. This is why it is required to develop a process approach with embedded quality principles.

Your personal goal is to meet and, wherever possible, exceed the organizational expectations placed on you. You will find many opportunities to demonstrate how you integrate and combine your personal approach and behavior within your organization’s systems.

It should be understood that this is an ongoing process rather than a one off. This is necessary to act as a bench mark against which you can assess whether the team members are meeting the goals and objectives which agreed upon. It will be used for conducting competence assessments and annual performance reviews.

Regularly providing feedback - both constructive and positive - is of major importance. It should also be communicated when a team member is meeting or exceeding their goals.

The team should be given focused and specific guidance regarding any areas in which they are failing to meet expectations. Doing so provides the opportunity to correct any shortfalls.

Recognition is an important element in supporting motivation within the team. People respond far better when they believe that their work is both appreciated and recognized. There are many ways in which rewards may be crafted without resorting to significant costs. The key to successful recognition is to be genuine, with the reward timed appropriately.

When possible, take the time to personally thank the team member for doing a great job.

In order to be effective at managing your team, you also need to work within your organization’s framework and structure.
