The Application Process for an EASA Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance Engineers License (AMEL)

An application for an aircraft maintenance License or change to such License shall be made on an EASA Form 19 (Form 19 is adopted and issued by each regulatory authority).
 
Applications
 
The application are normally made under the jurisdiction of the Competent Authority of any European Member State.
 
Once a member state issues your license you will normally continue to use this Member State (It is possible to change though there is little reason to do so!).

An application for the change to an aircraft maintenance License shall be made to the competent authority of the Member State that issued the aircraft maintenance License.
 
Documents required to submit for an AMEL should include documentation to demonstrate compliance with the applicable theoretical knowledge, practical training and experience requirements at the time of application.
 
In addition the applicant for additional basic categories or subcategories to an aircraft maintenance License shall submit his/her current original aircraft maintenance License to the competent authority together with the EASA Form 19.
 
Where the applicant for change of the basic categories qualifies for such change via the procedure which has occurred in a different Member State (other than the Member State which issued the license), the application shall be sent to the original competent authority which issued the first license.
 
Where the applicant for change of the basic categories qualifies for such change via a procedure in a Member State other than the Member State which issued the license, the maintenance organization approved in accordance with Annex II (Part-145) shall send the aircraft maintenance License together with the EASA Form 19 to the “original” competent authority for stamp and signature of the change or reissue of the License, as appropriate.
 
Each application shall be supported by documentation to demonstrate compliance with the applicable theoretical knowledge, practical training and experience requirements at the time of application.
